Today was completely dedicated to sharing ideas. We split the group into two smaller group of 8 and then everyone shared out one thing they have tried in their classes. The frame for the discussion was: "What have you tried? What did you notice?" The result was lots of great stories and discussion.
1. Reviewed basic umbrella question we are focusing on: "If we use alternate instruction or assessment strategies, in what ways will it affect our students at-risk?"
3. Group members shared out what strategies teachers have recently tried, and what is working and what they are struggling with. 4. Goal for next meeting: Continue to share experiences (blogging). Commit to reading other group member blogs and be prepared to share something you have tried at the next meeting (the whole meeting will be sharing out)
Group members started to think about a personal focus under the umbrella question of: "How will alternate instruction or assessment affect the students at-risk that I work with?" Specific issues discussed were:
For next meeting (Sept 12): Look over class lists and be ready to share what class you would like to focus on and which particular students you will track. |
